On August 18 during the shift from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm (local time) ALROSA’s miners and the Emergency Ministry rescuers cleared out 27 meters of workings on level -210 meters in two directions. The estimated volume of cleared rock is 660 cubic meters.Clearing of blockages was complicated by a breakdown of equipment: during the day, all three load-haul-dumpers that were operating on the level came out of order. Two machines have been repaired, another one is under repair.

As of 8.30 pm (local time), water level in the mine shafts is at mark –288.55.

The risk of water accumulation in the open pit mine and its immediate discharge into the underground mine remains.Specialized equipment was descended to the open pit to monitor the hydrogeological situation at night.
