Another search and rescue shift started its work in the morning on August 19 and clearedout 17 meters of the mine workings.The workings are being cleared out on level –210 in two directions.

The risk of uncontrolled discharge of water accumulated in the open pit mine is still a threat to the rescue operation and rescuers’ lives.To solve this problem, the Emergency Response Center took further steps to organizea controlled discharge of water from the open pit mine.

According to ALROSA’s mine surveyors, the volume of water accumulated in the open pit mine at 3:30 pm (local time) was 10.4 thousand cubic meters.The height of water in the mine shaftas of 3:30 pm (local time) was at mark –273.7 meters.
