Over the last 24 hours, ALROSA’s workers and rescuers cleared another 106 meters of mine workings on level – 210 meters.
As of 11.30 am local time on August 18, the water in the underground mine was at – 292.35 meters relative to sea level. The risk of immediate discharge of the water accumulated in the open pit into the underground mine poses a threat to underground miners and rescuers. Specialists are working on this problem.
Three shifts will be clearing rubble in the underground mine today. A total of 320 people are involved in the operation, 150 of them are ALROSA employees and 170 are EMERCOM specialists.
