Moscow, March 22, 2019 – The meeting of new Russia-Angola Business Council took place at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. ALROSA CEO Sergey Ivanov was elected as the Chairman of the Council.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the main tasks of the Business Council, including the development of business contacts, the promotion of Russian business in the Angolan market and attraction of the Angolan business to Russia. The Business Council will also cooperate with relevant ministries and departments of Russia and Angola, participate in intergovernmental commission meetings on trade and economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
“The creation of Russia-Angola Business Council is a confirmation of Russian business intentions to grow stronger on the African continent, including Angola. We will be engaged in the development of a constructive dialogue at all levels so that Russia can take a worthy place in this market,” Sergey Ivanov said.
Following the meeting, a work plan for 2019 was adopted. The first task of the Business Council will be the organization of the Russian-Angolan business forum, timed to coincide with the visit of Angolan President João Lourenço to Moscow in early April. In addition, the priorities of the Business Council will be the formation of a membership base, the creation of expert councils in key areas, the organization of the council members working visit to Angola.
Under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, business councils for cooperation with African countries such as Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe are already working.
