As of 7.30 pm local time, the waster volume in the open pit mine was 22,900 cubic meters. At 6.10 pm, water in the mine shaft was at level –234.7.

The works aimed at organizing a controlled discharge of water from the open pit mine by focused explosions were carried out during the day. On August 23, 17 charges were dropped to the water surface at the open pit bottom.

On level –210, three pumps are ready-to-run to keep water in the mine shaft at a certain level. Pumps will be started when the water in the mine shaft reaches –222 meters.

While there remains a danger of uncontrolled inrush of water into the mine shaft, rescue works underground are forbidden.
