Yakutsk, May 26, 2016 – PJSC ALROSA, the world leader in diamond mining, has announced that it will act as a title partner of the Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship, which started today in the capital of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The best wrestlers from 24 regions of Russia will compete for the national championship title during five days. It is already the eighth tournament held in the Republic. The Yakut school of freestyle wrestling is recognized as one of the best in Russia. Russia will form the national team, which will compete for the gold medals at the upcoming Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, based on the results of the championship.
“All the arrangements for the championship are made, and the Republic will try to hold the competition to a high standard,” noted Egor Borisov, the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and President of the Wrestling Federation of Yakutia.
“The pre-Olympic championship in Yakutia evidences of the great trust and respect for the Republic as far as the highest level of the completion is concerned,” said Dzambolat Tedeev, the acting head coach of the Russian national freestyle wrestling team.
The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has vast experience in holding major sporting events. The Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship 2016 is called a rehearsal for the international competition The Children of Asia, where ALROSA will also act as a title partner.
